Let the games begin...

I weighed in this morning, to my own, personal weight watching program. Here's what it involves: not eating candy at work, eating more fruits and veggies, exercising at least three times per week. I ate a Cinnamon roll with strawberries and milk to drink for breakfast. Grapes, an apple, and more strawberries were my before-the-workout snack. I rocked the elliptical for an intense 15 minute workout (no laughing, I have to slowly work my way up.) Then I had spaghetti with meatballs and garlic bread, and carrot cake for lunch. For dinner I think we'll eat leftover pizza. I guess I'm not eating super healthy, but at least I didn't eat any candy!

I know you are supposed to exercise a lot more than three times a week, but I figure, if I'm not exercising at all now, that three times a week ought to do something.

I'm on the high end of my healthy weight range, but also on the so-tight-that-they-won't-actually-really-button end of my cutest jeans from a year ago. Something's gotta give, and it's not going to be me giving my cute jeans to the DI.

I hate it when skinny skinny girls complain about being "fat," and since I'm technically in the healthy range, I'm not going to be hypocritical. I'm not saying I'm obese, I'm just admitting that I could be healthier, and that I have been before.

My goal is not a number, its a pair of jeans.

Ikea is a great way to spend a Saturday.

I'm loving my new desk. The cinnamon rolls are delicious too. I'm also wishing for the rest of my bedroom set. So far we only have the king bed and bedside tables in the medium brown. The wardrobes are definitely on my wish list. I think I could spend my entire living at Ikea, and secretly wish I could. Unfortunately, college comes before Swedish furniture.

Dinner is served

So, A and I had this idea to start a photo journal of our culinary adventures. So far, we've remembered to take pictures twice. The first time, we had cooked pizza, the second time it was tacos. I have far too much homework to give the details, so for now you'll just have to deal with pictures only.

Ode to Grilled Cheese

That perfect crisp outside, with the soft and melty center.

The melodious crunch you make sounds better than a Carl's Jr. burger.

How can you be so simple, yet so perfectly delicious?

Sharp cheddar, fat bread, and buttery goodness,
All in one package.

A symphony of flavors, just like on Ratatouille.

Paired with tomato soup, I can't think of anything more delicious.

No picture from my phone can do you justice.

(This grilled cheese and tomato soup meal was made possible by Skool Lunch.)

weekends are always too short

Here's what I did this weekend:

Ate pizza benders at Italian Village on Friday night, and saw a polygamist family. (Well, part of a polygamist family.)
Took an exam on a Saturday morning, which royally stank. A made delicious pancakes and bacon for breakfast, which was so thoughtful and nice.
Drove around with A and took pictures of houses we liked.
A also installed a stereo in my car. (So much for the not-having-anything-worth-stealing security system!)
Went to a baby shower for niece A and had a very nice time celebrating the miraculous arrival of this adoreable little girl, and the recovery of her brave mamma. This is what I gave, with the matching hat. Let's just say that I'm looking forward to the distant future (very distant) when I'll be the one getting all the tiny dresses and tinsy shoes.
Took a delicious nap. Yum.
Watched a really dumb movie called the Legend of Bagger Vance. I took another nap in the middle of it, it was that long.
Ate delicious tandoori chicken and potatos at the parents' house. So good. Watched Pride and Prejudice, episode II. Also so good.
Went to bed way too late.

New and Exciting

Remember that from elementary school/sunday school? Where each person gets to tell some news or a story of some sort? Well, here's what I would share if this were good old 2nd grade:

Dooners: Possibly further south and west than any person would want to travel, but very delicious. This is where we had out Valentine's Day dinner (Gastronomy restaurants were all booked up!) I had the pork, A had the prime rib. Yummy. I would also highly reccomend the sweet potato fries. Gelato is a must, and the sizes and prices were comprable to Cold Stone, while the product was better.

Cherella: Every time I wear my Cherella coat, at lest one person comments on it. It can be the guy at the counter at Caputo's, a shopper at Steve and Barry's, a rider on the train, or just some random person. I got the famous coat while working at the now defunct Haight Boutique, and absolutely love it. I can wake up super late, wear no makeup, and have an old t-shirt on underneath it all, but with this coat on, I can still feel glamorous. It's pretty great.

Music and Lyrics: What a good movie. I want my hair to look like Drew Barrymore's someday, when I have the patience to grow it out. She dresses very chic as well. Unfortunately, Hugh Grant is getting older. He is my Robert Redford, my Harrison Ford, my John Travolta. (I don't get the Travolta attraction, he is just revolting.) I know he's getting old, and that the whole open shirt thing might be a little dirty-old-mannish, but I just can't let that tarnish the old Hugh I know so well.

Valentine's: Dooners, chocolates, and C.S. Lewis. My DH is too much.

We are so chic.

Haircuts were rediculously fun. We all got these very neat cylindrical glass water bottles, and left the salon with fresh new do's. Then we went to a store called Name Droppers, and looked at second hand designer clothes. The only thing missing was our sister A...

I would post a picture, but our camera doesn't have a memory card. I'll just describe to you what I got. So basically, it's an a-line. a short a-line. I asked the stylist what she thought of going really short, and brought up Michelle Williams as an example. She said that with a face as round as mine, it would just make it look rounder. She said that I need length in the front to elongate my face, and that the hair cut I've had the past three years works for me. She evened out my two different lenghts, and made it so the back of my hair follows the natural curve of my head. It's a really cute cut, and the fringe (aka bangs) she cut are super cute. I like it a lot, but in a sense I'm disappointed. I was expecting to go to this amazing salon, and come out with an edgey, short cut. No such luck. Just a cute traditional one. At least my husband will be happy.

It is so so so cold outside. So cold that your nose hurts, and each breath is sharp like icicles, piercing you lungs with each short inhale. Your ears get so cold they throb with numbness. Fingers and does begin to ache, as if to scoff at the attempt of insufficient socks and gloves. It's that cold.
And now for the updats: I'm still sick. Stardust was very good. I have a hair appointment tomorrow at Lunatic Fringe. I've successfully peeled off all my nail polish, why don't I just give up and go natural? Oh, and my scholarship got messed up, d*%$ university...

Tuesday, February 5, 2008

That's what my dear brother M used to call me when I would stay home sick. I am Sicki today, that's for sure. Now it's off to the store for decongestants, and Redbox for the movie Stardust. I've been wanting to watch this show for awhile, but can't get A to see it with me. I'll let you know if it's good. I will also be eating some delicious tortellini and sausage soup we made for dinner last night. Maybe I'll post the recipe later, it is phenominal.

Good Advice

"I've found that there are very few things I've regretted in my life because I didn't do them soon enough. There are quite a few that I did too quick."

So something good has come of the death of Heath Ledger... finding a haircut that I really like. With all the gossip news coverage, I caught a glimpse of Michelle Williams' hair, and it's adoreable. Here's a pic, what do you think?
