home again home again jiggity jig

We arrived home from Las Vegas today. If you want to see pictures, look here. I provided kind of a lot of commentary, but here are some highlights.

Monday: drove to Vegas in our rental car. It was a Chevy Cobalt, silver. Checked into our hotel, Harrah's. Our room had separate beds. A was happy about that. Walked around Caesar's Palace and the Bellagio. Thought it was silly that all the casinos try to make you feel like you're outside. They must do that because the actual streets in Vegas are so terrible. Ate dinner at Mama Depalma's, best pizza in Sin City. Their fried mozzarella is a must. Then went to Coldstone. I had coffee ice cream with Reeses as a "mix in." I highly recommend it. This was before A found out he had high cholesterol and drastically altered the rest of our culinary experiences on the trip.

Tuesday: St. Patty's day. Everyone was drunk all day. Ate breakfast at my beloved Bouchon Bakery at the Venetian. A had a ham sandwich, the best in the world, I had a cheese danish, also the best in the world. We went to Hoover Dam and avoided many of the drunkards. The damn was big. It was a beautiful day, with a pleasant cool breeze coming off Lake Mead. A found out he has terrible cholesterol. We then ate at Buffalo Wild Wings. I had wings, A had a veggie burger and salad. Did the Eiffel Tower Experience, took some cool pictures. Was informed that the restaurants at the Paris "ooze continental charm." Didn't get pinched.

Wednesday: Walked down the strip, through the mile-long mall, where we purchased tickets to "Scarlett, Princess of Magic" for only $16. Then continued on to M&M and Coke worlds, and the MGM Grand. Enjoyed iced herbal tea while waiting to review a TV show for NBC at TV World. We ended up seeing Gary Unmarried. We both gave it a six, and were asked to come back the next day for a focus group, for which we'd be paid fifty dollars each. Hustled buns to see Scarlett. We were late. She was pretty bad but still baffling. I like magic. At dinner at the Venetian. A had salad again. I had pasta with probably ten cloves of garlic. Yum.

Thursday: Breakfast at Starbucks, fruit for A. Watched the lions at the MGM Grand for a long time before our focus group. Went to focus group, made 50 bucks. Walked to New York New York. Went back to hotel, called Lotus of Siam, asked if they had low cholestorol food. They said no, but that you could substitute tofu in any dish. Drove to Lotus of Siam. Ate delicious delicous Thai food. Found a Marshall's (at last!) A went to Barnes and Noble and bought a lower-your-cholestorol cookbook. Went to Blue Man Group. It rocked.

Friday: Breakfast at Denny's, A had salad again. Then we were off for home. We stopped at UFood Grill in Draper. I had a veggie cheeseburger with unfries. Delicious.

I am glad you had fun on your vacation. Damn and dam are homophones.

What can I say, I have to take advantage of every opportunity to cuss online...

Unfries are fries that aren't fried. A thinks they are better than the real thing! I don't know how they do it.

the UFood Grill is awesome, I love the fries, sounds like you had a good time in Vegas...your hubby wanted separate beds? that's a bummer...

If it wasn't such bad news, I'd be laughing real hard about the cholesterol diet. Guess I'd better go get my checked since I share genes with your husband!

Glad you had a good time.

When it is time to sleep, A doesn't like to be touched. He has been begging for seperate beds for awhile. We reserved a strip-view room with a king bed, but when we got there all they had strip-view had two queen beds, so we took it.

so give me your review of blue man group, where did you sit? I just got Travis tickets for his birthday, I got poncho A section, third row, middle of the section...I'm not so sure about this whole poncho idea...but whatever. . .

and it's a secret so if we hang out with you guys again before may don't mention it.

I hope you took advantage of the student pricing! I liked it a lot. A said he was expecting a little more, and that if we'd paid more than the student price, which was about $45 dollars per ticket, he would have been really disappointed.
We didn't sit in the poncho section, but on the left toward the middle and front. The poncho section would be fun though. I guess they do different things at ever perfomance, so you never know what to expect. The poncho section is super interactive with the group.
