I've got a hunger twisting my stomach into knots.


I'm trying to eat better, and have begged A not to bring home any more boxes of donuts from work. So here's what I ate yesterday:

Breakfast: grapefruit half, 1 bowl multigrain cherious (my favorite)
Lunch: whole grain rustic roll with butter, almonds, 2 clementines
Dinner: Hawaiian chicken with rice, green beans, 2 cookies

Not the most healthy, I know, but it didn't involve any soda, donuts, or large quantities of candy, which is a good thing. Here's what I'll do differently next time:

Since I was home before A, I made dinner. The Hawaiian chicken is a recipe from A's family, and it is tastey, A's favorite, in fact. First you cover the chicken breasts with a flour-salt mixture, then pan fry them in a little oil. You then make a sauce with pineapple juice, teriyaki sauce, dried chives, and honey, but I used Lyle's Golden Syrup, since I'm allergic. So you boil the sauce and then add the pineapple chunks, and serve it over the rice and chicken. So what is the point of frying the chicken? I mean, it just gets soggy anyway in the sauce, especially the next day. Next time I will definitely skip the frying to cut calories. For lunch today? To quote A, "soggy chicken."

i never knew this the other day but Trav said it's acctually healthier if you eat a big breakfeast, medium lunch, and small dinner. He's done that a couple of times, the man is a weight yo-yo, but tis alaways makes him lose a lot really fast. but then again, guys bodies work different for girls.

i want to be on a full on diet, but for right now i am off carbonation and fast food. It's only been since sunday but i have major cravings for coke. And gum helps ALOT when you're hungry and drving home to keep from driving through somewhere.

I do the gum thing too, when I'm feeling crave-ish for junk food.

I for sure ate enough calories, the roll I ate for lunch was HUGE, bigger than a bagel, and the chicken/rice/pineapple/green beans were plenty. Mostly the point was I didn't eat any donuts :)

Chels, you can get these half-size cans of coke that are so cute and very satisfying, it might work to slowly get of the stuff.

I learned in my nutrition class the best thing to do is eat food with a lot of fiber and protein, they fill you up for less calories and avoid high fructose corn syrup and partially hydrogenated oils. Man I need to go on a diet. Chels is right, most people eat their meals like an upside down pyramid little or no breakfast on up to huge dinner which is not good, when I lost weight I ate the huge breakfast, medium lunch, snack sized dinner way. But it is seriously not fair how guys can lose weight so easily. But the worst you can do is not eat breakfast at all because then your metabolism slows down because you haven't eaten all night while you were asleep and then you end up over eating later in the day. anyway, I know I'm preaching to the choir, but I don't even get why you people think you need to go on a diet anyhow. cuhrazay

Speaking of diets - I'm currently nibbling on a bar of Scharffen Berger dark chocolate given to me by ... YOU GUYS!! Argh. But I'm eating it very slowly, and dark chocolate has some nutritional value, right? It fights cancer or something I'm sure.

I have a new year resolution to shed some pounds, so Amy and I have been trying hard to cook nutritious foods. We are eating chicken and turkey and lots of veggies. And I have discovered the joy of ... oatmeal. For breakfast. It's a good filler.

The problem is, sometimes we just have the urge to make cookies, now that we have a house, have a child, etc... it's very domestic and fun to do. But then we end up with several dozen cookies between the two of us and that's a recipe for disaster, especially since Amy is honing her cookie skills to perfection. We need to start giving them away to friends and ... family. You want some?

Dark chocolate is actually good for you TEETH, a dentist told me so, so it must be true! We're trying to incorporate more vegetables and eat out less, which is healthier. I've started on the oatmeal again, and try to eat some sort of protien in the morning like an egg, and grapefruit.
I've had a craving for homemade oreos lately, but haven't made them. You are welcome to share cookies ANYTIME. We had some frozen cookie dough, but just finished off the last of it a week ago.
